The KATO Foundation originated as a New Mexico state wide vehicle to provide humane care for cats in a no-kill environment while waiting for adoption. As a 501c3 non-profit organization, donations to KATO Foundation's Kitty City may be tax deductible.
Kitty City was conceived as a cage less, safe, indoor environment for our cats. We are a no-kill facility where every feline guest is examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. Starting May of 2010 all Kitty City cats that are taken to our vet to be spayed or neutered are also micro chipped.
Kitty City residents enjoy a full range of indoor and outdoor play areas to explore. This also allows for visitors to interact with our cats rather than viewing them in a cage, and it allows the visitors to gain a better idea of each cat's personality. We feel this interaction does reduce the number of returned adoptions.
The best way to get acquainted with us is to stop by for a visit! Make it a family outing...or come alone for our "Kitty Zen" feeling.
Kitty City is located next to Pueblo Pipe and Steel inc. at 56 Danley Ranch Rd Alamogordo, NM 88310
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8a.m. to 5p.m., and Saturday 8a.m. to 12p.m. Visits can be made during off hours by appointment only.
If you're visiting Alamogordo, be sure to visit Petsense the humane pet store located at 805 N. White Sands Blvd., where you can meet more of our adoptable cats.
Every business has a beginning, and this is where you talk about yours. People want to know what opportunity you saw or how your passion led to the creation of something new. Talk about your roots--people wanna know you have some.
